Farewell to the 46A

As phase 6a of the BusConnects restructure loomed it was decided to commemorate the occasion by celebrating the near 100 year history of route 46A by arranging a road run on its final day of operation.

From enthusiasts to commuters and Bagatelle fans, the response from everyone as the convoy of vehicles ranging from 1948 to 2007 departed Infirmary Road towards Dun Laoghaire was amazing, which cemented the role this route had played within the history of Dublin.

The final 46A departed Infirmary Road at 2315 (2330 ex-O’Connell Street) on 25th January 2025 bringing a close to its 99 years of operation. From Sunday 26th January 2025 the E2 will be its replacement, it’s unknown whether or not it will stitch itself into the fabric of Dublin as well as the 46A did…
