DF415 – 415 ZD
1972 Leyland Atlantean PDR1A/1
CIE Metsec bodywork
DAF 1160 engine
Restored in CIE Blue & Cream Livery

DF415 is a Leyland Atlantean PDR1A/1 with CIE Metsec bodywork built in 1972 by CIE at the BMS works in Inchicore Dublin.
It spent all of its revenue earning service life at Donnybrook garage until 1988 when it became a driver trainer based at the Dublin Bus training school in Phibsboro, it only received a partial red and white trainer livery and retained most its CIE tan liverry until it was finally withdrawn in 1991.
Upon entering preservation it was repainted into a refreshed CIE tan livery before being later painted into CIE Blue and Cream when it was originally restored, having it’s original fibreglass mouldings reinstated which were removed during its mid-life overhaul at Inchicore. In the late 1990s it was rallied extensively in the UK.
In 2020 it was in need of further refurbishment so it was stripped and had a mechanical and bodywork rebuild over an 18 month period. In late 2022 it was repainted back into the blue and cream livery by Freeney’s.
