This website does not represent any single preservationist, but aims to showcase all bus preservation endeavors in Ireland. We are actively working on bringing more content to the website in due course.
Ireland had a great tradition of building buses up until the mid 1980s to suit its own operational needs, these vehicles were unique to anything on the market so a huge emphasis is based on preserving these unique vehicles. More modern “off the shelf” vehicles operated in Ireland have also entered preservation in recent years.
The buses are owned by private owners, this website doesn’t represent any one owner or collective but acts as a showcase for all Irish buses in preservation
Unfortunately not. Most preserved buses are kept on private property and aren’t available for public display outside of organised events. The National Transport Museum does have a number of preserved buses on public display.
It’s up to the individual owners interests as to what they preserve and restore. Other vehicles preserved in Ireland include iconic London Routemasters and GM New Look “Fishbowl” buses.
